The Greater Butts County Lions club was founded in 2009. Since our inception, we have been tirelessly serving those in need in Butts County with our focus being on Vision, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Hunger, and Environmental Issues.

The Greater Butts County Lions Club St Patricks Day Diabetic Dash 5K and Fun Run in Memory of Tyler Prine is March 15, 2025 at Red Devil Hill Athletic Complex in Jackson GA. This is our 2nd year of hosting this run. It's important to us to use the proceeds of this run to help Butts County residents with Diabetes care. Last year we were able to pay the annual fee for all of the Butts County resident patients at Rock Springs Clinic. We intend to do that this year as well as provide snack boxes in all of the Butts County schools for the nurses to use with diabetic patients.
Tyler Prine was the son of Robert and Mandy Prine who own Jackson Barbell in Jackson GA. Robert and Mandy have been longtime supporters of the Greater Butts County Lions Club. Tyler died from complications from Diabetes. We wanted to have this run in Memory of Tyler to increase awareness of Diabetes and to raise money in his memory tha

Tyler Joseph Prine
March 26, 2002 – December 17, 2022
Tyler Prine, age 20, of Richardson TX passed away December 17, 2022 unexpectedly from complications of diabetes at his parents’ home in Richardson. Tyler was born on March 26, 2002 in St Charles, MO to Mandy (Martin) Prine. Tyler graduated from Faith Academy as the Salutatorian in May of 2019. He graduated from Gordon State College with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering in May of 2019.
He was a Senior at The University of Alabama majoring in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering set to graduate in May 2023. He was also working on his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama and was only 12 hours short of completion. Tyler was a member of UA Rocketry Club, Omicron Delta Kappa 2019-2022, Pi Tau Sigma (Mechanical Engineering Honor Society) 2020-2022, and awarded Outstanding Junior in Aerospace in 2021. He had been published multiple times for research in Fluid Dynamics in Aerospace Engineering. He worked at the University of Alabama Supe Store for the last 3 years. Tyler had a love for space and was wise beyond his years. He had a thirst for knowledge and a curiosity for what was beyond our world. He understood the concept of time travel that most people couldn’t fathom.
